Homework Character Map

Read this short story. Then, think about what we did today in class and make a character map using the information about Mr. Smith that you can gain from the story.

Mr. Smith

In a quaint little town, a man named Mr. Smith lived in a big old house with his wife and family. The neighbourhood kids liked and admired Mr. Smith. He was very inventive. He designed all sorts of extremely complicated and out-of-the-ordinary devices in his workshop. He also liked to get outside and have fun. One of Mr. Smith's favourite activities was playing with his kids and the rest of the kids in the neighbourhood.

One day, Mr. Smith was playing a rowdy game of football with the kids. Suddenly a downpour came, soaking them all. Everyone scurried into Mr. Smith's workshop. Mr. Smith had an idea. He convinced the kids to help him invent something that would shield them from the rain so they could continue their football game.

The kids were enthusiastic about helping! They worked feverishly all afternoon. Mr. Smith was so kindhearted that he didn't even get angry when one of his tools was broken. He said it could be replaced.

When their invention was complete, Mr. Smith carried it outside and helped the kids assemble it. It worked! It kept the kids dry while they finished their game.

Santinelli's and Marce's Winter Trip

There's a river that for some strange reason didn't freeze.

There are handicapped people who ski.

At the mountain

Who's who?
It's not easy driving when it's snowing because the road is icy; they put chemicals and salt to avoid accidents and there are trucks that clean up the snow.

When it snows during the night, the cars and the streets get covered by snow and people have to clean it.

Prepositional Phrases Exercise

Here's the link for the homework.

There may be more than one prepositional phrase in a sentence; if so, separate in the space for the answer the two phrases with a slash / . Don't be misleaded by the size of the rectangle where you can type your answer, just because it's small doesn't mean that there's only one phrase.
