Mr. Smith
In a quaint little town, a man named Mr. Smith lived in a big old house with his wife and family. The neighbourhood kids liked and admired Mr. Smith. He was very inventive. He designed all sorts of extremely complicated and out-of-the-ordinary devices in his workshop. He also liked to get outside and have fun. One of Mr. Smith's favourite activities was playing with his kids and the rest of the kids in the neighbourhood.
One day, Mr. Smith was playing a rowdy game of football with the kids. Suddenly a downpour came, soaking them all. Everyone scurried into Mr. Smith's workshop. Mr. Smith had an idea. He convinced the kids to help him invent something that would shield them from the rain so they could continue their football game.
The kids were enthusiastic about helping! They worked feverishly all afternoon. Mr. Smith was so kindhearted that he didn't even get angry when one of his tools was broken. He said it could be replaced.
When their invention was complete, Mr. Smith carried it outside and helped the kids assemble it. It worked! It kept the kids dry while they finished their game.
