The so called “Ship of Dreams” has turned out to be, for more than one century, the “Ship of Controversy”.

There are so many versions of what happened that night that the whole tragedy seems to be surrounded by a veil of mystery, despite the survivor’s testimonies and the investigations that have been made.

So many people and circumstances have been blamed for the collision with the iceberg and the senseless loss of lives, that it’s hard to get a clear idea of the truth. Whichever the real story is, today we pay a tribute to the brave ones who helped others in spite of their fears and the knowledge that they wouldn’t live to see the light of day, and to those whose dreams were broken that fateful night.
